From Idea to Industry Leader: The Birth of the Access Industry

JLG Industries began in 1969 because company founder John L. Grove had an idea that sparked an industry.

His idea: To create a solution for accessing work at height.

With a crew of just 20 workers at a small metal fabrication shop in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, he conceptualized, built and sold the first JLG® aerial work platform in 1970, making his idea a reality and pioneering the access industry.
