JLG expands customer training center

We’re excited to announce the $2.5 million, 15,000-square-foot expansion of our training center, which features a larger bay and a ground course, called the Proving Ground. The bay area allows us to train several classes at the same time and it can accommodate up to four large pieces of equipment in that space, ideal for hands-on training.

The Proving Ground, located behind the new center, is a four-acre tract of land that includes obstacle courses designed to train participants in the operation of JLG equipment. Course attendees will be assigned loads to move and obstacles to maneuver around. Learn more about our training program or download the current training schedule (289 KB PDF).

JLG Lift Chosen to Help Maintain Scottish Exhibition Center
JLG Lift Chosen to Help Maintain Scottish Exhibition Center
When the building services manager for the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center (SECC) was looking for a piece of equipment for lighting maintenance and other tasks, he did his research and consulted with other professionals to help him make the best decision. Ultimately, he found that the JLG 1500SJ was the right choice for him. The SECC can accommodate up to 13,000 people, depending on the staging layout. Its roof spans 394 ft in a shallow 148-ft-high dome. That’s a lot of lights to maintain, in addition to preparing the seating areas and closing out empty areas with drapes that need to be suspended from trussing. The 1500SJ allowed access to 90 percent of what needed to be done in the arena. Read more about how this machine was chosen for the SECC.
Construction Employment Increases in Metro Areas
Construction Employment Increases in Metro Areas
Between May 2013 and May 2014, construction employment expanded in 218 metro areas, according to a new analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Dallas-Plano-Irving, Texas added the largest number of jobs in the past year (11,100) followed by Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale, California (9,300). Meanwhile, Bethesda-Rockville-Frederick, Maryland experienced the largest job loss (down 4,200) followed by Gary, Indiana (down 2,800). Congress and the White House need to reach agreement on both short-term funding relief for the federal highway trust fund and a long-term renewal and reform of the program in order to avoid disruptions.
