The JLG Standard

As a proven technology leader, JLG is committed to meeting and exceeding new standards. Our R&D team works around the globe to develop, test and produce advanced equipment that improves job site safety on every level. Solutions like SkyGuard® enhanced control panel protection, increased wire rope service intervals and load sensing systems will be available to make the transition to compliant equipment as simple as possible.

Boom Lifts

  • SkyGuard: Functional reversal and audible alarm standard on all machines except Toucan and Tow Pro models (not affected by ANSI changes)
  • Wind force requirements: 28 mph outdoor wind rating
  • Load sensing system: In use and proven in markets where currently required
  • Travel speeds: No change needed to be compliant
  • Wire rope sensors: Historically compliant with redundant rope systems on some models
  • Tilt angle sensors: When activated due to slope being exceeded, boom functions go into creep speed and drive function is locked out until boom is returned to a position closer to stowed
  • Foam-filled tires: Reduces the need for additional counterweights to meet stability test standard

Scissor Lifts

  • Wind force requirements: 28 mph outdoor wind rating or indoor-only designation
  • Load sensing system: Some moving to a hydraulic pressure sensing system, which is simpler and has fewer parts
  • Travel speeds: No change needed to be compliant
  • Wind force requirements: 28 mph outdoor wind rating with reduced capacity or indoor-only designation
  • Travel speeds: No change needed to be compliant
  • Self-closing gates and toe boards: Will replace chain entrances

Vertical Lifts

Various aspects of JLG® vertical lifts are impacted by the new ANSI standards. When applicable, modifications will be made to counterweights, available options and accessories, platform capacity and ground controls. These units will also receive a wind-rating designation that classifies a unit as wind rated or indoor use only.

ANSI Training

Along with approved equipment, JLG offers a variety of options to help you meet ANSI and CSA training requirements:

  • Service and equipment training online through JLG University, or attend a class at the state-of-the-art JLG® training center and proving grounds
  • Train-the-Trainer course teaches participants to train MEWP or telehandler operators
  • AccessReady connects operators with JLG-qualified trainers to make finding training simpler than ever
  • Supervisor Training online via AccessReady saves time and money while satisfying the new ANSI requirements
  • AccessReady XR offers a virtual experience that provides real-time interaction and true-to-life job site scenarios
