JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK] and a leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, will demonstrate its
LiftPod® portable aerial work platform at booth #200 during the
Voluntary Protection Programs Participantsʼ Association (VPPPA) Expo. The Expo is held in conjunction with the 28th Annual VPPPA Conference and will take place Aug. 20-22, 2012, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
“As an affiliate member of VPPPA, JLG looks forward to building awareness of workplace safety through education,” said Randy Marzicola, JLGʼs director, channel development. “According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 129 workers lost their lives after falling from ladders in 2010, placing falls among the ʻFatal Fourʼ leading causes of worker deaths on construction sites. JLG is especially pleased to demonstrate a product that provides an effective alternative to ladders when working at heights.”
The LiftPod line of aerial work platforms combines the portability of a ladder with the stability of a work platform. The
FS60 and
FS80 models, which will be on display at the conference, offer a complete, hands-free 360-degree range of motion in a stable and enclosed platform at working heights of 12 feet (FS60) or as high as 14 feet (FS80).
Because both models consist of just three lightweight components, each weighing less than 50 pounds, they can be assembled and disassembled in 30 seconds or less and moved by one person. With an attachable work tray that holds up to 33 pounds of tools and materials, the LiftPod has a 330-pound rated capacity. Once disassembled, the LiftPod can fit in the back of a pick-up truck, van or SUV for extra convenience when moving between work sites. The unit is powered by an 18-volt cordless drill or an optional Power Pack Kit for ease of elevation.
Established in 1982 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) enable management, labor and OSHA to establish cooperative relationships at workplaces that have implemented a comprehensive safety and health management system.
“The VPP process emphasizes the continual identification and elimination of hazards beyond OSHA regulations,” explained Marzicola. “The LiftPod offers an affordable and portable access solution that supports the VPP process as it contributes to workplace safety and the overall safety of building worksites.”
