JLG Launches Control System for Telehandlers

Mittwoch, 2. Februar 2011
Hoofddorp, The Netherlands (February 3, 2011) –-- JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE: OSK] and a leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announces the availability of an EN15000:2008 - compliant control system on its CE - marked telehandler models.

EN15000:2008 legislation calls for a change to the longitudinal load moment system on all European telescopic handler machines produced after September 1, 2010. The EN15000:2008 is a European standard that was revised in 2008 to address both static and dynamic longitudinal loading of telehandlers.

“JLG developed an innovative progressive cut-out system - currently patent pending - that prevents the operator from exceeding the machine’s longitudinal stability capabilities in both static and dynamic conditions. Significant effort has gone into the design of the system to ensure minimal impact on machine productivity”, says Brian Boeckman, Global Director Product Management for Telehandlers at JLG Industries,Inc.

JLG telehandlers monitor the loading of the rear axle to determine the machines longitudinal stability. This information is communicated to the operator by a display in the cab. When the system senses reduced loads on the rear axle, the operator is informed via the display and the lift up function or telescope - out function are restricted in speed, or if necessary cut out altogether. On machines with maximum lift heights of less than 10m, which can frequently be used with buckets, JLG employs this system when the operator has indicated that he does not intend to drive the machine.

JLG manufactures telehandlers for industrial, building and construction applications. In total, JLG has 13 JLG branded telehandler models available.
